Whether your 4x4 is a daily driver picking up kids from school and doing the grocery shopping, a tradesman's vehicle carrying a variety of tools and equipment, a touring vehicle towing a camper, caravan or boat, or a weekend toy for tackling hard off road tracks and trails, a suspension upgrade or GVM upgrade may be required.
At Albany 4WD & Camping Centre, we have access to the full range of Old Man Emu suspension products from ARB.
Engineered for off road comfort and on road handling, Old Man Emu provides tailored suspension solutions for over 200 popular 4WD vehicles. Whether it’s for work or play, touring or hardcore off road, Old Man Emu has a selection of springs, shocks and associated suspension components that will transform your 4WD’s handling, ride, and off road capabilities.
BP-51 internal bypass 4WD shock absorbers are Old Man Emu's flagship product. They deliver increased comfort and control, on and off road.
Old Man Emu Nitrocharger Sport shock absorbers are a twin tube design with the outer reserve tube providing protection to the internal components off road. Utilising the latest advances in shock absorber technology, Nitrocharger Sport is the most finely tuned 4×4 shock absorber on the market.
If you plan on undertaking remote area travel, then carrying sufficient fuel, water, spares, food and camping gear means that your 4WD will be fully loaded, which will place a lot of additional strain on all of your suspension components. Factor in tough off road conditions such as hours of corrugations, and the limitations of your standard factory springs soon become clear.
Old Man Emu manufacturer a range of coils, leaves and torsion bars to improve the load carrying capability of your 4WD, allowing you to tackle the road ahead with confidence.
Many modern day 4WDs can quickly exceed their factory GVM once you start adding accessories, passengers and all the gear for a weekend or a week away. Exceeding your vehicle's GVM is not only illegal but can become dangerous and may void your insurance in the event of an accident.
To overcome the issue, a GVM upgrade may be required.
If the GVM upgrade is fitted to your vehicle by an authorised Old Man Emu installer prior to registration, it can be registered according to its new, increased GVM. This process ensures that your vehicle's upgraded GVM is legal in all states of Australia.
For post-registration GVM upgrades, please speak to a member of our team to discuss your options.
